Debate plays a large role in the modern, U.S. atheist movement. Though atheism is becoming normalized, it is only recently that we sometimes get to speak unchallenged. Even now, it’s almost impossible to find us in the news without a religious representative present to oppose us. Many believers, particularly in the more religious parts of the nation, will never hear about atheism from an atheist outside the context of a debate. When we make our views known online, believers pop up looking to argue.

Matt Dillahunty has set out on a project to make atheists, or at least those of us who want to argue, better debaters. One of the most prominent atheist debaters in the U.S., he’s started a series of videos to talk about what makes a debate successful and to improve our responses to common theist arguments.

He joins us this Sunday to talk about his project and give us a little advice on tuning up our atheist arguments.
