In the United States guns are a difficult topic to engage in a dispassionate argument over rights versus public safety. Emotions run high because of the number of deaths due to gunfire balanced against the defense of the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Can atheists and skeptics find a way to talk about this and figure out how the country can find an acceptable solution that both respects rights and protects public safety? We may not do it all in an hour, but we hope to have a civil conversation. Art Kallenbach is a member of the Minnesota Atheists Board of Directors, and has been collecting guns since he was 11 years old. He is a member of both the NRA and the Minnesota Gun Owners Political Action Committee and is licensed to carry a concealed weapon in both Minnesota and Utah. Plus he is a lot of fun to play pool with. This is going to be less of a debate than a question and answer session, but we do hope to field calls and emails on this sensitive topic. Mike Haubrich is not an expert, neither does Art claim to be. That being said, we have opinions.
