Emily Cassidy is a research analyst with the Environmental Working Group (EWG) who studies the impact of agriculture on land, water and air. Global warming and increasing population pressure are stressing our ability to grow and distribute food to feed us all. Is there a breaking point and when do we reach it? Is reliance on meat reducing our ability to efficiently provide the caloric needs of 9 billion people? If we solve these problems for the 21st century are we encouraging continued exponential population growth?
Dr. Greg Laden is going to discuss these issues with Ms. Cassidy, and we may even have a little time to talk about the role of genetic engineering.
