Robert M. Price has spent years as part of the Jesus Seminar, working with other biblical scholars and historians to paint the most historically accurate picture of Jesus possible. In his own work, Price has not outright rejected the possibility of a historical Jesus, but he has come to the conclusion that there is no conclusive evidence that Jesus ever lived. It must, therefore, have come as something of a surprise to Price when renowned non-historian Bill O'Reilly published a book last year called Killing Jesus and modestly subtitled "A History". Or maybe not, given the source.
With Killing History: Jesus in the No-Spin Zone, Price takes apart O'Reilly's book, substituting scholarship for the wish-fulfillment O'Reilly based his book in. This Sunday, Price joins us to talk about the book and O'Reilly's errors.

Belief or non-belief in a god can play a very strong role in a person's worldview, and it may be hard to imagine that two people having such opposing worldviews could survive a long-term relationship with each other. Challenges such as deciding whether to go to church together, acceptance in each other's families, and decisions about raising children (circumcision, baptism, church, religious education - to name a few potential issues) may seem insurmountable - or at least more trouble than they're worth.
But perhaps it's not as dire as all that.
Dale McGowan is the author of a new book entitled In Faith and Doubt: How Religious Believers and Nonbelievers Can Create Strong Marriages and Loving Families. In the book, McGowan introduces the reader to eight families who have struggled and thrived in their mixed-belief households. And McGowan doesn't look at this from an outsider's perspective; he, an atheist activist, and his partner, a Christian, have been happily married and raising children in their own family.
Dale McGowan is the author of several books on non-religious parenting and atheism, as well as two fictional novels. He is the founder of Foundation Beyond Belief, a charitable giving organization that organizes humanist generosity and compassion. We are honored to welcome Dale McGown back to Atheists Talk this Sunday, and we hope you can join us for the interview.

Minnesota Atheists members have a long tradition of supporting and participating in charitable works, volunteerism and otherwise lending a hand where we can. For those of you who enjoy this time of activity and social engagement, you're going to want to tune in to this weekend's episode of Atheists Talk.
Ben Blanchard recently returned from a year abroad. He was one of the first participants of the Pathfinder's Project, the purpose of which is described by their website as so:
Pathfinders Project is a yearlong international service trip sponsored by Foundation Beyond Belief, a nonprofit created to focus, encourage, and demonstrate humanist generosity and compassion. Through Pathfinders Project, humanist volunteers (the Pathfinders) are supporting clean water, education, human rights, and environmental conservation work around the globe.
Ben served in Africa and South America, and in those places he met and worked alonside people in numerous countries, participated in cultural exchange and shared in the lives of new friends. Before his trip, Ben was well-known known for his work with the Secular Student Alliance and was involved with the Campus Atheists, Humanists and Skeptics at the University of Minnesota where he was a student.
Please join us this Sunday to hear Ben's stories and lessons learned, and why the idea of humanist service is so vital to our movement and to the world.
