The mission of Foundation Beyond Belief is "To demonstrate humanism at its best by supporting efforts to improve this world and this life, and to challenge humanists to embody the highest principles of humanism, including mutual care and responsibility." FBB offers effective and compassionate volunteering and charitable giving opportunities to non-theists.
Two of the ways that FBB lives its mission is through the coordination of two networks, the Beyond Belief Network and the Humanist Disaster Recovery Teams. The BBN is a collective of over 110 US and international freethought organizations. BBN staff assist member teams with ideas and tips for service, planning events, and helps individuals looking for opportunities in their area to connect with member organizations. The HDR Teams coordinate humanist disaster recovery and provide non-theists an avenue to assist impacted communities when disaster strikes.

In her book Move Upstream: A Call to Solve Overpopulation Karen Shragg challenges us to consider overpopulation and it's effects on our world. From the book description:
When it comes to our use of natural resources, we are taught to consider issues related to consumption such as energy efficiency and recycling. However, the number of people - and how fast that number is growing - is a more important factor. More people consume more resources, need more services, produce more waste, and create more world conflict as resources diminish.
Working on downstream issues, such as saving the environment, feeding the hungry, and ending homelessness, is noble but ineffective and inefficient without also working to solve the primary cause of these and other important issues. In Move Upstream: A Call to Solve Overpopulation, Karen Shragg challenges social and environmental activists to stop working downstream and take the problem of overpopulation seriously. She also provides compassionate ideas to solve the problem.
Karen Shragg is a naturalist, writer and overpopulation activist. She joined the advisory board of World Population Balance in 2004, and regularly delivers lectures on overpopulation to local, state and national groups. Karen holds an Ed.D. from the University of St. Thomas in critical pedagogy and is director of the Wood Lake Nature Center in Minnesota. Her other books include, The Wolf Within, Grieving Outside the Box, the Nature's Yucky! children's series with Lee Ann Landstrom, and Lucy's Hero: Remembering Paul Wellstone.

Born and raised in California, Chris Shelton grew up in Scientology and spent 25 years actively working for it at its highest levels. Having escaped in 2013, he has been an outspoken critic and anti-cult advocate ever since.
Chris Shelton is the author of the newly published book Scientology: A to Xenu - An Insider's Guide to What Scientology is Really All About. From the book's description:

Justin Scott is a professional photographer and graphic designer who is involved in atheist and secular organizations. He is currently working with the Secular Coalition for Iowa to increase atheist visibility and voices in the upcoming Iowa caucuses. Justin was also involved last year in a public response to Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act; he drafted an open letter to Indiana businesses to inviting them to relocate and enjoy Iowa's inclusive business climate.
