Minnesota Atheists is once again teaming up with American Atheists, this time to sponsor a Regional Atheist Conference and an Atheist Baseball Game in August. Minnesota Atheists is a Local Partner of American Atheists. Our last venture together was the billboards we put up in January.

Atheist Baseball Game

On Friday, August 10, 7:00 p.m., we will sponsor a St. Paul Saints baseball game at Midway Stadium, 1771 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul. Arrive early at 5:00 p.m. for a tailgate party in the parking lot.

Our banners will hang in the stadium and we will rename the team the "Mr. Paul Aints." The team will wear Mr. Paul Aints jerseys during the game, which will be auctioned off as a fundraiser for us. You may also order in advance a custom Mr. Paul Aints jersey with your name and a number on the back for $69 by contacting us at apres@mnatheists.org.

The letter "S" will be covered up on the word "Saints" throughout the ballpark and we'll have an information/greeting table at the main entrance. American Atheists president David Silverman will throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game. After the game there will be a fireworks display.

The event is being advertised on the radio and on thousands of pocket calendars as: "Join us for a night of unbelievable fun, sponsored by Minnesota Atheists and American Atheists."

Special group rate tickets are available in the Outfield Reserved section for $12. (You'll also receive a voucher for a free hot dog and soda at the game.) Children under 2 who don't require a seat are free.

Regional Atheist Conference

Join us on Saturday, August 11, for an all-day Regional Atheist Conference at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in downtown St. Paul. Confirmed speakers so far are: Dave Silverman (president of American Atheists), PZ Myers (the world's best-known atheist-science blogger), Teresa MacBain (head of The Clergy Project, for clergy who are now atheists), Ayanna Watson (president of Black Atheists of America), Hector Avalos (Biblical scholar), Robert Price (author of The Case Against The Case for Christ and The Christ-Myth Theory and Its Problems) and J. Anderson Thomson (author of Why We Believe in God(s) ).

In addition to the conference speakers, a lunch and dinner are available for purchase. Later that evening we will have a pub crawl in downtown St. Paul.
