Atheist volunteers from Minnesota Atheists did it again. They cooked a genuine gourmet meal at the Family Place shelter in St. Paul as they do every third Saturday of each month.
.July’s menu featured Tarragon Chicken and Potatoes Italiano followed by cookies for dessert. There were 33 guests, including 11 children, and 10 atheist volunteers for a total of 43 people at dinner. The meal was served family style, as it always is, where our volunteers dined with the shelter’s guests.
Ten percent of the proceeds from the Mr. Paul Aints player-worn jersey auction at our atheist-sponsored St. Paul Saints baseball game in July will be delivered to the Family Place in September. There will also be a school supply drive for the Family Place at our August 17 Freethought Picnic. Please bring school supplies for the Family Place and/or non-perishable food items for the food shelves at Keystone Community Services. The picnic will be at Columbia Park (800 Columbia Parkway, Minneapolis) from 12pm to 3pm.
The Family Place and Keystone Community Services are both secular, 501c3 nonprofit, social service organizations in St. Paul that serve families throughout Ramsey County.
Check in at our Meetup site for future volunteer service projects. Past volunteer events have included donations and/or work with Children's Hospital of Minnesota, Bridge for Youth , Emergency Foodshelf Network, and Youth Express.
