In many major religious women find themselves at a disadvantage to their male counterparts. Religion has been used to silence, supress and justify inequity and violence against women.

Tasha Golden's collection of poetry "Once You Had Hands" gives voice to the silence surrounding domestic violence and women's subservience in the name of religion. Tasha Golden grew up in Tennessee in a conservative Christian culture. Her experiences flow across the pages, leaving sadness, anger, and a sense of desperation in their wake. She questions how a supposedly loving, caring, omniscient God could allow the misery and tragedies that she observes.

Once You Had Hands has been nominated as a finalist for the Ohioana Book Award in Poetry. Join us this Sunday for our discussion with Tasha Golden.
