"Why Are You Atheists So Angry?" Greta Christina on Atheists Talk #235, September 8th, 2013

In early 2012, Greta Christina published a book that instantly connected with its target audience. In this book, Greta provides an answer to a question that so many of us nonbelievers have been asked: "Why are youso angry?" Actually, she provides 99 answers.

In Why Are You Atheists So Angry? 99 Things That Piss Off the Godless, author and atheist activist Greta Christina doesn't waste time trying to explain that we're not angry, that many of us live happy and fulfilled lives without having to believe in supernatural beings. Okay, she does say that. But she also embraces the anger; she unapologetically and categorically states that gods and religiousdomake many of us angry, and for extremely good reasons. We hope you can join us this Sunday when Greta Christina shares with Atheists Talk why she's angry, and to explain why you should be too.

Atheist Shoes Revisited, David Bonney on Atheists Talk #234, September 1, 2013

More than a year ago, we interviewed David Bonney, founder of Atheist Shoes, about his Kickstarter project and the shoes he made to help people declare their lack of belief. In the meantime, he has continued to make the news--and make new kinds of atheist shoes. This Sunday, we catch up and find out what he's been up to. Please join us.

"Nailed" David Fitzgerald on Atheists Talk #233, August 26th, 2013

David Fitzgerald is back on Atheists Talk! Last month we had David on to discuss his new book The Complete Heretic’s Guide to Western Religion: Book One: The Mormons. This Sunday he joins us again, this time to speak about his critically-acclaimed book, Nailed: Ten Christian Myths That Show Jesus Never Existed At All.

In Nailed, David Fitzgerald explores ten commonly accepted ideas that many people hold about the existence of Jesus Christ. He proposes that Christ is a mythical being, a story formed out of legend and desire. He presents painstakingly detailed historical research which suggests that Jesus Christ logically could not have existed. His writing style is approachable and entertaining for those who are new to the idea of the Christ myth theory, but detailed enough to peak the interest of those who have studied it.

We hope you can join us this Sunday!

"The Happy Atheist", PZ Myers on Atheists Talk #232, August 18, 2013

PZ Myers needs no introduction to Minnesota Atheist listeners, but in the interest of form, he gets one anyway. With his solo blog, Pharyngula, and the group blog The Panda's Thumb, Myers helped to pioneer the genre of science blogs. Through his commentary on the Discovery Institute and other creationists trying to shoehorn religion into science classrooms, he also helped to pioneer atheist blogging, eventually becoming the cofounder of the most-read atheist network, FreethoughtBlogs.

The Happy Atheist, Myers' new book, collects some of his most-accessible writing on the topic. From the publisher's description:

Through his popular science blog,Pharyngula, PZ Myers has entertained millions of readers with his infectious love of evolutionary science and his equally infectious disdain for creationism, biblical literalism, intelligent design theory, and other products of godly illogic. In this funny and fearless book, Myers takes on the religious fanaticism of our times with the gleeful disrespect it deserves, skewering the apocalyptic fantasies, magical thinking, hypocrisies, and pseudoscientific theories advanced by religious fundamentalists of all stripes.

With a healthy appreciation of the absurd, Myers not only pokes fun at the ridiculous tenets of popular religions but also highlights how the persistence of Stone Age superstitions can have dark consequences: interfering with our politics, slowing our scientific progress, and limiting freedom in our culture.

Tune in this Sunday, when we talk to PZ Myers about the book and what he's accomplished as a blogger.
