The first half of this Sunday's program, we will be joined by Scott Bush, Saint Paul Saints (Mr. Paul Aints) Assistant General Manager and talk about A Night of Unbelievable Fun, The Second Coming. This will the second Mr. Paul Aints game sponsored by Minnesota Atheists, on , Friday August 9, 2013. While this is also a baseball game, it is really a means for friends, family and neighbors to get together and enjoy each other's company and forget about the hassles of life for an evening.
The Saints or Aints offer parking-lot tailgating before the game, then perhaps one of the only ballgames one might go to the bathroom during the game so as to watch the between-innings entertainment and after fireworks. Aints custom merchandise is available, including an auction of the players jerseys and family-friendly entertainment for an evening. It will be a memorable and unbelievable event!
Saturday, August 10, will be a one-day Regional Atheist Conference, featuring Susan Jacoby, author of several books, including Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism, The Age of American Unreason and The Great Agnostic: Robert Ingersoll and American Freethought. Other speakers include Greta Christina, Hector Avalos, Amanda Knief and PZ Myers. We will have interactive workshops and breakout sessions highlighted at the end of the day with an all-star panel.

August Berkshire has been an atheist speaker, debater, and activist since he cofounded the modern atheist movement in Minnesota in 1984. He is a past president and newsletter editor of Minnesota Atheists and a past vice president of Atheist Alliance International. He has served on the board of directors of the Humanists of Minnesota and cofounded Camp Quest of Minnesota in 2003. He is on the speakers bureau for the national Secular Student Alliance.
August has developed a series of pamphlets that are distributed at schools, festivals, and other venues. The pamphlets cover a diversity of topics, including atheism, religion, the problem of evil, abortion, fine-tuned universe, Jesus, Biblical commandments, and humor. Skeptics Society founder Michael Shermer said August's performance in a debate in Fargo was "the best overall defense of atheism that I have ever seen."
August's essay "My Road to Atheism" appears in the anthology "Atheist Voices of Minnesota." He is the owner of the ATHEIST car license plate for Minnesota and is proud to be listed in the reference book "Who's Who in Hell." Contact us for a free set of his pamphlets.

Renowned particle physicist, professor, author, skeptic and atheist activist Victor Stenger joins Atheists Talk this Sunday to discuss his recently published book, God and the Atom.
Dr. Stenger has been popularizing the science of reality for decades. He has published dozens of articles for popular magazines and peer-reviewed journals. He has written at least eleven stand-alone books, and seven of those have been published within the past decade. He popularized the phrase "Science flies you to the moon. Religion flies you into buildings."
In God and the Atom Dr. Stenger takes us on a historical journey of the concept of the atom, which starts much earlier than you might expect! Atomism - the theory that nature consists only of atoms and void - survived for centuries in the absence of direct evidence. Very recently technology was developed that definitively proved the atom's existence. Stenger makes the case that the total absence of empirical facts and theoretical arguments to support the existence of any component to reality other than atoms and the void can be taken as proof beyond a reasonable doubt that such a component is nowhere to be found.
